Bartimaeus just wouldn't give up...and neither did Jesus! We’d love to hear from you.
[laughs] There once was a man named Bartimaeus.
Bartimaeus was blind as a bat.
[laughs] He couldn't see anything.
Not the sun, not the trees, not even people's faces.
By the way, the saying blind as a bat isn't right.
Bats aren't actually blind.
They can see just fine.
But because they use echolocation to find their food at nighttime, I guess people think they can't see.
Anyways, back to Bartimaeus the Blind.
Because Bartimaeus couldn't see, he couldn't work.
So Bartimaeus sat by the road every day and begged for money and food.
This was his life.
He did it every day.
Imagine that.
Most of us have houses and apartments, and apartments that we live in, but Bartimaeus, he didn't have that.
And because he lived this way, people treated him differently.
They kind of just passed him by, and he felt very alone.
Then one day, Bartimaeus heard a lot of noise.
People were walking by.
They were talking and shouting.
Whatever was going on, it had to be better than sitting here, thought Bartimaeus as he walked toward the noise.
"What's going on here?" Bartimaeus asked.
He had heard stories about Jesus, how He made sick people feel better, and even helped blind people see.
