48. Jesus Cancels a Funeral

[sneezes] [laughs] [gentle music] One day, Jesus was walking with His disciples, but also there was a big crowd of people.

By this time, a lot of people were getting to know who Jesus was because of His teachings, the miracles, and also for being an all-around great guy.

He started getting a lot of people wanting to be around Him.

[laughs] He was famous, like a movie star, but without the glasses or the flashing lights.

[camera clicking] And everyone wanted a piece of Him.

"Jesus, Jesus, over here.

Look at me," said someone.

"No, look at me, Jesus.

[laughs] I'm over here," said another person.

And His disciples were kind of like bodyguards.

So Jesus and His crew were headed to a town called Nain or Nain, one of the two.

I'm not sure if I said that right.

Oh, well, moving on.

As they all got close to the town gate, they saw another crowd of people coming out.

But this crowd was very different.

[gentle music] They were not excited.

They were very quiet and very sad.

Jesus saw that they were having a funeral for a young man who had just died.

He was the only son of a woman who was a widow.

A widow is someone who lost their husband or a wife, and they are not with anyone anymore.

So now she had lost her son as well, and she was very, very sad.

The people with her were also crying and trying to comfort her.

Jesus saw her sadness, and He felt it, too.

There are just some times when bad things happen, and you don't know what to do or say.

But Jesus did.
