Walking makes you tired...and thirsty. We’d love to hear from you.
It was a long journey, and Jesus was tired and thirsty, so he sat down beside a well to rest.
By the way, a well is a hole dug in the earth where you can use a bucket to get water straight from the ground.
[water dripping] Pretty cool [sighs] and refreshing.
And this wasn't just any well.
It was called Jacob's Well, a famous place where people came to get water.
Jesus looked at her and said, "Um, excuse me, can you get me a drink?" "Um, okay," said the woman.
Back then, Jews and Samaritans didn't get along, and men usually didn't talk to women that they didn't know.
"Why is he talking to me?" she thought.
He said, "If you knew who I am, you would ask me for living water." The woman was still confused.
"Living water? But you don't have a bucket," she said.
"How can you get water?" Jesus explained that the living water that he was talking about wasn't from the well.
It was something even better.
He said, "Anyone that drinks this regular water will get thirsty again because it's regular water.
But anyone that drinks the water that I give will never be thirsty again, never, ever, ever, never.
It will fill their heart with life and joy." This still did not make sense.
"This guy's just talking in riddles," the woman thought.
But she was very, very curious about this living water.
