Sing along: "We are the wise men, going on a trip...to find the Savior, to write him a check!" We’d love to hear from you.
No entities detected.
[gentle music] After Jesus was born, far away in the East, three wise men were studying the planets and the stars.
These men, called the Magi, were very smart and knew a lot about the night sky.
You could ask them, "Hey, wise man, what's that constellation over there?" "Oh, that's an easy one.
It's the Big Dipper," they would say.
Or you could say, "Hey, wise man, how did you get so wise?" "I don't know," said the wise man.
"I guess we just read a lot of books [laughs]." One night, they saw a new bright star shining up really high.
Because this star was different from every other star they had seen, and they knew it was a sign from God.
A new king had been born.
This king was special.
He was the king of all kings, the King of Kings [laughs].
The wise men knew they had to find the new king, so they packed their camels and began the long journey.
They followed the star for a long, long time, believing it would lead to the baby.
We are the wise men going on a trip to find the Savior, to write him a check [laughs].
[upbeat music] They arrived in Jeruselum, Jerusalem, the big city.
It's not very far from Bethlehem, which was where Jesus was.
The wise men figured they should ask the king in the area if he knew where Jesus was, so they did.
Remember King Herod, the mean guy who made the census happen? Well, the wise men didn't know that King Herod was a bad guy.
They asked King Herod, "Hey, King Herod, where's the new King of the Jews? We saw his star, and I've come to worship him." King Herod was not happy to hear this.
He was the king, and he didn't want anyone else to take his place.
He secretly made a plan to find this baby.
He pretended to be nice and told the wise men, "When you find him, come back and tell me where he is so I can worship him too." "Wow, that King Herod is so nice," thought the wise men.
"We will let you know when we see him," they told King Herod.
"Please do," said King Herod as he laughed menacingly [laughs].
Okay, that was weird.
"I guess we'll see you soon, King Herod," said the wise men, and they were off to find the Savior.
