Laura BelinGuestSpencer DirksHostIf you've requested an absentee ballot, your county auditor should mail it to you on that day.

And it may take a few days to reach you because unless you live in one of the largest counties, your ballot will be sent somewhere else in a different county for processing, and that can add days to the delivery time.

So technically, you still have a few more days to submit an absentee ballot request form.

But at this point, it's leaving it a bit late to vote by mail unless you have no other option because ballots must arrive at county auditor's offices by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

You have to fill out your ballot and submit it right there in the county auditor's office or satellite location.

So you want to research the races in your area, and that includes any county-level offices or local ballot initiatives ahead of time.

That reminds me that I need to still finish my research on the judges who are up for retention this year.
And if someone receives a ballot in the mail but is worried about the post office not getting it back in time, Laura, what are the best options for returning that ballot?

You can hand deliver it yourself to the county auditor's office or someone in your immediate family or household can deliver it for you.
