The pet snake and a summer of homework

Today's court case in the court of Judge Bex is a tricky one because we all love pets.

We all love having something to look after.

But I could see Mum physically recoil as the snake was mentioned.

Mum looked absolutely terrified.

And I'm not going to lie to you, Harris.

I don't think I can do that to your mum.

I don't think I can let her walk into her home and be scared of what's in there.

I think...

I think, Harris, the hope is if you do get a bit older, I think cling on to that hope, like your mum says.

And if you prove that you can look after a pet, then maybe when you're a bit older, I think that might be the way forward.

But I do think in the meantime, I think prove, Harris, that you can look after any creatures.

Get some stick insects.

Maybe if you can get some other animals in the house, maybe a mouse that you're not going to feed to a snake.

Maybe some tiny creatures that you can look after.

And then in a few years time, you can say to your mum, look at all of these things I've looked after.

Now I get my snake.

i think you need to prove it first is that okay

yeah i

think i think i think poor old mum uh because unfortunately harris you might need a bit of help and i don't think mum's going to be the person to do it by the looks of things

yeah but what about dad

i've got a feeling dad has sent your mum here as the second person to i i think i think basically you might need extra help and i don't think at the moment mum and dad are up to the challenge so i think you're gonna have to wait a Yeah.

And then Theo the snake will be somewhere waiting for you, I'm sure.

In the meantime, that's my judgment.

Harris, will you abide by my judgment?

Yeah.
