Ep 38 - LGT preview

He's running Hundred Kingdoms and he's going for quite a heavy cavalry list.

It isn't all cavalry because there's a couple of Stands of Longbowmen in there And I don't like facing those longbowmen because their range is so long.

And particularly when they're sitting next to each other, it feels like you can sort of double activate to pepper me with shots, which against some units isn't so harsh because they'll have like tenacious two against shooting or something like that.

But against a lot of units, it's just really horrible to have this horrible double barrage from almost whatever distance Josh can set it up at.

And so that's a real threat.

And then, of course, he's definitely got some Crimson Tower in there, a couple of blocks of Household Knights, and a couple of Mounted Squires.

And so that caused me a bit of a problem with my list, which I'll explain in just a moment.

because he can get out so quickly and establish such a high line that he can then sort of fill it in in whichever way he wants and so he really does dictate the play of the game and so whoever ends up facing him tomorrow just be ready that you'll be on the back foot right from the the first card that you draw but it's it's a lot of horses a lot of charging and Josh knows how to use it and so Go Josh tomorrow.

You've pretty much consistently gotten better results than me in every tournament.

And so I expect that will continue tomorrow.

But good luck and good luck anyone facing him.

But you'll enjoy facing him anyway.

We've been told that in the first round there's going to be a sort of friendly fire rule so that you get to play somebody you don't typically play against.

And so I expect that he and I won't be matched up.

And thank goodness for that as far as I'm concerned because it really didn't go well for me this last time.

A slightly different version of this list that I'm about to describe to you that I'm going to be running...

I played against the other Josh a few weeks ago and I had a really similar issue, which is my reinforcements.

I'm really quite dependent on the reinforcements going my way and the dice are quite set against me just in the pure statistics of how likely it is.

So it was quite interesting.

The date where we needed to submit our lists for LGT seems to arrive at about the same time that they announced the lists.

And one of the things that was quite interesting to hear from those lists, recognizing that these are the greatest players in the world, they play more than everyone else, they play more competitively than everyone else, you know, they're going to be facing off against each other to decide who is the world champion.

Almost every list was based purely around minimum sized units.

And so with Yaroni, then they tended to be in pairs and everything else, you know, typically only had three as a number of stands that they would have in that unit.

And I think it was something like there were only three regiments that were more than a minimum size across all lists in total, which is the exact opposite of what I have gone for.

So what we have with mine is we've gone with a pheromancer warlord.
