Specifically, it's for the five boroughs and for Nassau for tomorrow afternoon from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.
So we've got another upper trough that's going to be approaching us and another frontal system.
So we've seen this several times this summer.
We're going to start off that trough to our west.
The warm and humid air mass is moving in.
And we're going to have a warm front come through during the first part of Thursday.
So we'll see isolated showers and storms developing.
after about 9 o'clock in the morning.
And then things will become more widespread as we move from, say, the 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. time frame, although it will still be intermittent.
And that's where the Weather Prediction Center has its marginal to slight risk for severe storms and also a slight risk for excessive rainfall.
Tapers off further east because it looks like the main focus of this tomorrow.
is going to be in a narrow fairly stationary band associated with a prefrontal trough so we've got these very high dew points high precipitable water values so we're looking for torrential downpours again now places will get as little as a quarter of an inch to as much as two inches in the city maybe some places could wind up with three.
So these rainfall totals, yes, they're high.
They're not extraordinarily high, but the soil in the places that are getting the most rain is extremely moist.
So we've got that to contend with.
We also have the possibility... of some severe storms because we have shear along that warm front with a wave developing.
And we also have a decent amount of CAPE, especially if we could get some daytime heating in during the first part of the day.
So looking for storms, main threats, gusty winds and small hail wouldn't completely rule out another little spin up.
with this year but you know we'll have to wait and see not in the forecast but not impossible especially given the way this summer has been now highs tomorrow will be right around 80 upper 70s low 80s and we're going to do this again on friday from a temperature standpoint That cold front is going to linger to our west.
