Welcome to Is She Game! On this first episode, Coach Jackie is joined by the one and only Billie Jean King--tennis pioneer, women's sports advocate, and famed lesbian. The two show some love to BJK's…
But before I start, I just want to say that one of my biggest pet peeves is these like girly bop explainers where people explain sports and things to women as if women are dumb.
Like, football is like when you're at Sephora and you really want the limited edition lip liner and the lip liner is the ball and the other customers are the defensive linemen and now you get it, small woman brain.
But I am going to try to make this fun and hopefully, like, easy to understand.
And since this is the first ever episode of Is She Game, it just feels right to explain the rules of the show.
rule number one we are always gonna play a game that's the name of the show it's called is she game based on my series is she gay or she does play women's sports or coach women's sports but every time we interview a guest there's gonna be a really fun game that's my favorite Number two, we don't gossip.
Always think, is this respectful to the players? Don't it be in the comment section saying, Jackie, what's your comment on this? If the players haven't confirmed it, if no journalists have confirmed it, I'm not going to confirm it on this show.
This is a symbiotic relationship, to quote my eighth grade science teacher, Mrs. Bramhall.
So I'm going to give you the women's sports, the reality TV, all the knowledge you need for the week, and you're going to give me your thoughts on my thoughts.
Rule four, we call men's sports leagues by their actual names here, okay? The MNBA, the MNFL, the MNHL, all of that.
And if anyone wants to argue with that, this might not be the podcast for you.
Rule number five, if we're going to talk about men's sports, it'll be because they did something annoying or they did something gay.
