What is it that a production function needs to do? It needs to ensure that whatever the organization is producing, that happens.
What is it that a quality function needs to do? A quality function ensures that the appropriate quality is maintained in the organization.
What is it that a finance function does? A finance function makes sure that the money and the financial transactions of the organization manage.
So if we were to follow a similar pattern, what is it that the human resource function is supposed to do? While it can have multiple meanings, multiple ways of trying to understand what is it that the human resource function should do because there is no one singular answer.
What I believe which is going to fit in the most appropriately to 90% of the organization is that a human resource function is predominantly existing in any company or any organization for ensuring that the right people get assigned to the right jobs and to ensure that the people actually do their jobs.
So if this is what is the primary responsibility of a HR function, that is to ensure that the right people get assigned to the right jobs and that people who are assigned to the jobs actually do what they're supposed to do.
to achieve these objectives the organization has various systems right from a simple thing of talent acquisition to complex things like succession management to trainings to research to multiple you know system that we have try and justify what your human resource function exists for and if you can define it in a simple fashion like why your sales function exists why your production function exists If you can answer this specific question, why your HR function exists and explain it to the HR head, explain it to the HR team and to the top management, I think you would have a function which can really deliver what you as an organization want from your HR function.
