We haven't done a Nugget episode on one specific paper for a while now, so it seemed a good time to highlight a new paper published on seed oils.
Now, over the past few years, seed oils have gone from being a fairly boring kitchen ingredient to one of the Internet's biggest nutrition controversies.
I think when we were growing up, Daisy, they were commonly referred to as vegetable oils.
Seed oils specifically are a subset of vegetable oils that refer to oils extracted from a seed.
These include rapeseed, also known as canola oil, sunflower, sesame and corn, among others.
And you'll hear claims that industrially produced seed oils are pro-inflammatory, metabolically harmful, and that they can even cause chronic disease.
And these sorts of claims have spread rapidly across certain podcasts, social media channels, and wellness communities.
