Paul ManneringGuestbrilliant that certainly comes across every time i meet you guys out in events and things like that as well i mean you you guys are clearly doing what you were born to do for sure so anyway that's probably enough of plugging you guys we're not here to as much as as nice as it is we're not here to talk just purely about what it is that you do we're here to tap into your expertise so let's i suppose let's just get into it then i'm going to kick off with a really open question open to any of you who wants to just kind of chip in and get the conversation started but At the moment, when someone says a hospitality apprenticeship, what do you think are the perceptions as we sit here and talk about this today?

I mean, you know, I started off by saying, you know, at the end of the day, an apprenticeship is just a course of study in the workplace over a period of time that proves competency, right? I mean, that's all it is.

But There have been so many iterations, so many changes to the process, so many changes to content, changes to the way it's funded, changes to an awful lot of employers.

And these are dear friends of mine and people I've known for many, many years have gone, you know what, it's all a bit too complicated.

So, yeah, I think the perception for some employers is this is just all a bit too complicated.

And that would be one of the reasons why not all of them are using up their apprenticeship levy.

They come and sit with us and talk to us and say, right, here's what we need to do.

And we've got at the other end of the scale, some of the employers who are not necessarily great, big organizations, just those who get it, who have said, actually, I've got effectively a free fund of money.

Well, it's been taken out of my levy fund, but there's a pot of cash here that I can use to make sure that all of my staff are up to speed all of the time, that we're developing the next line management for the future.
