Stefan DerconGuestCurtis LockhartHostStefan is a professor of economic policy at the University of Oxford, where he also serves as the director of the Center for the Study of African Economies.
In addition to his academic work, Stefan has served in the policy world, both as the chief economist at the Department for International Development in the UK, and as a policy advisor to the UK's foreign secretary.
Stefan has also published a great book called Gambling on Development, about the importance of an elite bargain in low-income countries for kick-starting growth and development.
