There's been a lot in the media of, of recent times about, um, yeah, groups of young men caught up in, uh, serious sexual assault allegations.
We even had a situation where there was an alleged choking of a 16-year-old girl during a, a sex act, and sadly, we see it in the media too often, women are victims of, uh, sex- sexual assault.
So we want to sort of cover off on, on that, but you obviously have a, an in-depth understanding of the, the type of problems a- associated with those offenses.
I think, uh, you know, my chronism of that, Gary, is, you know, I have a son, I have a daughter.
Uh, they're older now, but I've gone into both of their schools over the years.
I've presented in both their schools for close to 20 years, and, you know, young women are, are entitled to know all the legal stuff, all the definitions, consent and everything else.
So I think knowledge, um, is such an important thing, and, and I see when I go into the schools and even at university level, I see that there's a familiarity with a lot of the terms like, you know, terms like consent-
But when you sort of scrape below the surface and say, "Well, okay, what does it actually mean to have consent?"
"What does it mean to give consent?" Or, or if you're advising a friend on something that's happened to them, where does your information sort of come from? And I find that that's where people's knowledge drops off the cliff a little.
So that's sort of where I try to fill in those gaps and say, "Well, let's look at what consent is.
Let's look at how it applies." Even definitions, Gary, around, and, you know, we're getting a lot of media reporting with, with terminology around sexual crime.
