How about just turn the switch on for a couple of seconds and let me see what I hear again.

What the f***? Did you hear that? So did you guess what sound that is, how not to sailor? Apparently it's the electric fuel pump that marine engine guy put in some months ago, which for some reason I hadn't heard before.

So we may have solved the engine temperature warning issue by putting in a water pump impeller that's not missing half of its fins.

The pump is still leaking a little from around the cover, but it's okay enough, we hope, to crank up the engine and see if we're getting enough water through the system, and where exactly the slow fuel leak is coming from.

It's somewhere on the left side of the engine, which of course is the starboard side as I look aft into the engine compartment.

And of course, it's in an area where I have to remove the galley drawers and the access plate to try and get some light on it.

Thankfully, I guess, Marine Engine Guy didn't bother putting the plate back after he installed the fuel pump.

So will our friend Jim and I figure this part out before I have to drive back north? Uh, maybe.
