So, as I may have mentioned, I have several things on my punch list this trip to the boat.

The most notable thing being fixing the engine, since without a properly working engine, we ain't going much of anywhere.

But also, my jib sheet winches are finally looking like I can score a quick victory by reinstalling those.

Except that one of the drums lost a couple of teeth when our friend Jim and I finally managed to remove it from the innards.

Which means a trip to the place that everyone in the Tampa St. Pete area should know about.

It's basically several warehouses of used and salvaged boat parts, plus a fair number of new parts that a sailor might commonly need, but mostly the used parts.

I'll put some photos at hownottosail.com. Not long into going into building one and looking at the hundred or so winches in the second aisle, Jim scored the win, finding what appeared to be the only variant 23 winch in the lot.

I only needed the drum, but since the price was the same either way, now I have some spare parts.

The one thing I forgot to do was bring along one of my existing drums just to make sure this Variant 23 drum, which appears to be a slightly different ear or series, is really the exact same size and tooth situation as what I need to match it with on board.
