We're getting close to interviewing builders for a large renovation, and I want to ask better questions than just how much will it cost and how long will it take? What should we really be asking to understand about how they work, communicate, price, and handle problems?
I think we've talked about this a couple of times, but being very specific, I think is good.
And one question is, where do you find them first? Right? And we, our clients kind of run the gambit, like some of them come in with contractors that they know, or they've worked with before, some come in with friends that have recommended them, and some come in and say, I don't know anybody, like, can you help me? So, you know, we kind of start from there and ask our client's who they know, if they have someone in
gotten in bed with somebody already before we've even started the design, but sometimes that happens too.
So some folks come to us and say we have a builder we've worked with before or that comes very highly recommended.
So even if they're really excited about one particular builder, they will still want to see multiple.
I know in other markets or with other architects or some builders say I don't bid.
And, you know, to that, I say, you know, putting on my builder previous in my previous life as a builder hat, you know, to that, I say, well, I get that.
You know, no one's trying to run you around and make you bid a bunch of stuff.
