🇬🇮 The Runway Swim, Winners & Plenty More!

Yeah, so just came back from our international runway swim, which is an event.

This is the second one we've run this year.

It's an event which is a tourist product for Gibraltar.

It's something that I thought, first of all, I'm interested in swimming and I would love to do this myself personally.

And it didn't exist here in Gibraltar.

So I thought, let's get some swimmers together and do the swim.

Now, where does it start? Where does it end? It starts at Marina Bay, which is, if you know Gibraltar, it's near where Victoria Stadium is or Ocean Village.

That's where this one starts.

And swimmers go all the way to the end of the runway.

They turn there and then they come back down to Weston Beach.

So it's like a U shape.

They do a U turn at Weston Beach and then repeat back to the start place at Marina Bay.

Now, this takes about within about an hour, an hour and a half.

Everybody's finished.

To be honest, the first person who finished today, Christian, done it in 43 minutes, which is incredible.

That's the male winner and the female, Anya, in 52 minutes as well.

So they two got some medals and it was amazing.

The first time we done it a few months ago, I think it was in May, we had 12 participants this time around we had 22 20 no 24 exactly 24 participants and that's without advertising it or it was basically friends of friends because i didn't want to expand it too large until we had got the logistics down which is we need these safety vessels which is the canoeing club and the association helped us out with that we had jet skis helped us out with that.

We also had Pretty Sailing.

They helped us out.

Pretty Sailing is the name of the company by the way.

They had some vessels that helped us and they marked out the route.

That was much appreciated as well.

We had so many volunteers helping us.

St John Ambulance, they were there as well.
