okay let's hear it here we go Leathered, weathered Irish skin.
In the night sky, we fight.
And pride for the life we fight to live.

Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, who is perhaps better known by his stage name Macklemore, and on occasion Professor Macklemore, is an American rapper.

He hails from the Pacific Northwest, Grungetown, Seattle, in the state of Washington.

Irish Celebration was a standalone single released by Macklemore and his producing partner Ryan Lewis in 2010.

It was issued independently during the period before the duo's mainstream breakthrough with The Heist in 2012.

This track incorporates melodic elements based on traditional Irish folk music and references Irish heritage, a surprisingly rich seam of inspiration for popular music which seemingly never gets old, hackneyed or cliched in the eyes of the general public.

This song, whilst not a huge commercial success, was an early digital success and it bears more than a passing resemblance to the American indie folk band Beirut's Scenic World, the writer of which Zachary Condon received a writing credit for Irish Celebration.

Being introduced to Macklemore, this would have been about 11 years ago when I first met my wife.
