"Esty's Story, Part 2" - With Dr. Esther Rollhaus

All right, Dr. Esther Roelhaus, Esty, welcome back to the podcast.

For our listeners, Esty was on last week to tell part one of her story.

She herself is a reproductive psychiatrist, a physician.

For you and me, Esty, we are just one minute past that story, so we're still sitting talking.

Where we left it last week was right after your twins were born.

They were premature.

They are in the NICU and they're having sort of episodes of bradycardia where their heart rate's dropping and apnea where they're stopping to breathe.

And you're in this sort of limbo state where you're a new mom, right? Which should be a wonderful, exciting time.

But you're also just kind of home without your babies and visiting them in the NICU and not working.

And that's where we are.

So let's pick it up from there.

So tell me how that evolved.

Eventually they were able to come home.

We had Nadav's pidyon habben, we had their bris and simpapat, which for your listeners who aren't familiar with those are just celebrations.

I remember the Nadav's party was actually so devastating because Kira was still in the NICU.

And so this wasn't, and had just had another bradycardia episode.

So she had to stay another five days to make sure that that wasn't going to happen again.

It was a very sad simcha.
