I'm joined today by Jennifer Hookham, a dermatology nurse working across primary care and corporate settings with a strong focus on skin health prevention and early detection.

Can you start by telling us a bit about your background and how your role has evolved over time into what you're doing today?

My role started in skin health straight out of high school as a beauty therapist.

So I evolved from that role into teaching, and then moved into doing a Bachelor of Health Science through Victoria University in General Therapies, which opened the door to me to skin cancer medicine, dermatoscopy, regenerative medicine and long-term skin health.

But up until that point, I didn't really know what lesions were, pattern analysis was, or any of those things that are really specific to dermatoscopy.

So it's formed a lot of my transition from beauty therapy all the way through to dermatology nursing.

I've done quite a few courses in between that time from my bachelor degree, evolving into the nursing space so that I can work more specifically in the primary health care setting, as well as corporate health.

And I have actually met and spoken with you many times over the years and watched you evolve.
