Send us Fan Mail Head Games Commander Podcast Episode 40 Commander Spotlight featuring Molecule Man Decklist…
Anyway, Tim, so who are we shining our spotlight on today?
Today, we are spotlighting Molecule Man.
episode like always we're going to talk about this commander we're going to talk about the deck that we built around it talk about the strategy the cards that we think are good what we think the positives and negatives of this commander are this was a pretty hyped commander when it first got spoiled so i think that this will be an interesting thing for us to kind of break down for everybody today
yeah So today's deck was built by our good friend Tim.
It is from the Marvel Super Heroes Commander Precon.
The Doom Prevails Precon to be specific.
So we kind of talked about who it is.
So why don't we get a deep read and let's talk rule zero.
So Molecule Man is a colorless commander, if you didn't get from the several very unsubtle hints so far.
Molecule Man costs six generic mana.
It's a legendary creature.
It's a human villain.
It is a 5-5, and it says non-land cards in your hand have miracle, which means you may cast a card for its miracle cost.
Sorry, non-land cards in your hand have miracle zero.
I skipped over the most important part.
Miracle means you may cast a card for its miracle cost when you draw it, if it's the first card you drew this turn.
So there is this really interesting little timing thing that happens that when you draw the card, you have a window to immediately cast it before you move on to do anything else for its miracle cost.
And in this case, that's zero.
So we essentially get to cast the top card of our library that if we draw it the first card each turn, if it is a spell and not a land.
Yeah, real good.
And the fact that it's each turn makes it a lot better.
And so Molecule Man requires you to build colorless, and there's been some other colorless commanders that have been popularized over the past several years, although it used to be something that was completely missing from the commander format, or you had to play an Eldrazi.
And let's be real here, there's lots of Eldrazi in the deck because they are the most powerful colorless cards, or some of the most powerful colorless cards that exist.
and they are really expensive mana value wise and dollar wise uh so casting them for zero is often very very strong so um this deck as far as the rule zero goes um it does qualify technically i believe as a four based solely on the fact that there is at least one two card infinite combo now the infinite con all the infinite combo does is generate infinite mana So you actually need a third card to win.
Those two cards by themselves don't.
