Government Explores Measures to Ease Rising Electricity Costs and Cushion Consumers

The Government of Saint Lucia, through Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre, is engaging LUCELEC to explore temporary measures to ease the burden of rising electricity bills on households and businesses. The Government continues to subsidise gasoline, diesel and cooking gas to help keep energy costs affordable, while advancing longer-term initiatives, including geothermal energy and incentives for solar photovoltaic systems, to reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels and help stabilise electricity costs.
