[upbeat music] Okay, so today we have a very exciting guest.
This goalie has represented Canada on the world stage at both the World Para Ice Hockey Championship and the Paralympic Games.
He backstopped the para ice hockey team that won gold for Canada in 2024, and was at this year's Paralympic Games.
And to top it off, he has some of our favorite Team Canada mask designs.
If you guessed Adam Kingsmill, you are correct.
Welcome, Adam, to the Every Mask Has a Story podcast, and thank you so much for joining us today.
Awesome.
So I'm just gonna jump in with our first question.
So what was the moment that sparked you wanting to become a goalie?
Yeah, I think it's pretty universal with a lot of goalies and a lot of, you know, kids growing up in Canada, especially in northern town in BC, is just that natural pipeline is hockey, and for me, uh, you know, my family was always a little bit weird, so you know, my dad was a goalie, my brother was naturally a goalie, and then, so you know, I just followed suit, and I guess I just fit that niche and fell in love with the gate.
Yes.
And actually, I continued to play goalie from all the way from 4 years old till 16 when I stopped playing standup hockey, and then I switched to para hockey, and quite honestly, a lot of- it surprises a lot of people when they ask me if I've ever been into a player sled before, and I think I've been in the player sled twice in my entire life.
So it's funny, if I go out there, I might be on the exact same skill level as, you know, you, that's never tried it.
[laughs]
Yeah, no, I'm a goalie through and through, and yeah, I, I love the, love the position, I love the sport, and you know, it is, it is tough at times to be a goalie, but uh, it's always been a part of me.
That's amazing.
