Millie PadulaHostSo let's bring it right back to the start.
We're talking labelling, what we need to know, what we need to look for.
First of all, who actually regulates our labelling laws here in Australia? Who are the governing bodies?
Well, there's kind of a few different governing bodies for label supplements.
So the first one is the FASANs, which is the Food Standards of Australia and New Zealand.
So they regulate anything that's food or food products.
So that can go from your meats to your fresh dairy, fresh vegetables and fruits.
And then that also incorporates your special purposes foods, which is your food supplements, such as your collagen powders.
So they also regulate around your listed medicine, your complementary medicines and your registered medicines.
Anything that can come down to more in relation to therapeutic claims.
So anything more so targeting around certain conditions, illnesses, such as osteoarthritis.
So you kind of have a little bit of, I guess, higher level claims in relation to that.
So those are your two main regulatory bodies that will regulate the labeling system.
So they basically decide what we can and cannot put on our labels essentially.
Yeah.
Okay.
Super interesting.
So there's quite a difference in the two.
Yeah.
Now, collagen can fall under either of these bodies.
Is that correct?
Yes.
Most of the time you would find that collagen supplements are regulated under the food space.
So let's bring it right back to the start.
