And so I made a video where I said, "Hey, if you are using your religion to justify your homophobia, it's still homophobia.
It doesn't make it any more justifiable or any better." And on that video, someone commented and said, "There are actually some theories that Jesus himself may have been queer." I was immediately intrigued, sparked my interest.
And I also was thinking about how for many of us, I would think probably most of us, we just assumed Jesus was straight.
I never had that explicitly taught to me or straightforwardly said to me like, "Hey, Jesus was straight," but that was just the assumption.
That was honestly my assumption still until reading that comment from that person that Jesus may have been queer.
And that's why it sparked my interest so much, is because I realized, oh, why was I just assuming Jesus was straight even though it wasn't said either way? And if we play with that assumption, push back on that assumption a little bit, what might be illuminated about who Jesus could have been? All right.
