Elizabeth ShreckhiseHostSo, um, what is Mini Camp? So for some girls, three weeks at camp feels great right away.
For others, it feels like a really big step, and that is why Mini Camp exists.
So Mini Camp is our one-week introductory program for first-time campers.
Um, it gives the girls the chance to experience camp real life from sleeping in tents and choosing activities, to eating in the dining hall, making new friends, learning what it feels like to be away from home.
Um, but Mini Camp is also very intentional, like a lot of our programs and like our camp in general.
It's not simply a shorter version of term camp, and it's not designed to be a one-week camp experience that campers would repeat every year.
Uh, the purpose is to help girls take that first step into Allegany and ideally leave feeling more confident ab- about taking the next step.
So today, the three of us are gonna talk about what Mini Camp actually looks like, who it's best suited for, how we help girls through that first week away, and what we hope campers will take with them when they head home.

It, uh, follows, uh, right behind our Mother/Daughter Weekend, so it's very early in the season and in the summer.

Usually opening day is Father's Day, so, um, for those mini campers, you know, we celebrate the dads too.

Um, but this program was specifically designed, as we've kind of mentioned, um, a little bit already, for our 8 to 10-year-old campers who have never been away to camp before.
