Can therapists build successful careers, care for their families, make money, and protect their own well-being, without burning themselves out trying to “balance” everything? Whew! It's exhausting…
Carly CostelloGuestStephanieHostCathyHostSo tell us a little bit about negative thoughts, negative cognition.
That you've really had to overcome or maybe that you still hold.
Yeah, because I think as females, we do hold this negative cognition like, oh my gosh, I'm not good at this.
Really, because we can't do it all, and we can't do it all well.
And so I love that idea of outsourcing.
And I know some clinicians out there might say, well, I don't have the money to do that, or I can't do that.
And we're just encouraging you to be curious about what it might look like to outsource certain things or find nuggets of time, because the more time you have for yourself, the the more you can then grow, you know, on that end.
So yeah, what are some negative thoughts that you've had to overcome? Well,

I've definitely had to overcome some like money mindset, negative thoughts, especially being like in the social work, helping field.
Sure.

I mean, I remember grad school, you know, the messaging has always been like, no one's doing this for the money.

You're not doing this for the money, you know? And So then it's like these, I have like negative connotation about if I even want to make money.
right.
We've heard that before.
It seems like I'm hand in hand with therapists.
Like there's some sort of obligation or duty there.
To help people without really recognizing your talent and your time.
So it's an interesting phenomenon.
Yeah, well, tell us what is a recipe for burnout because that's so important.
