This evening, we're gonna have a special guest that I'm gonna get to talk with, uh, Nima and Dawa Fitzmaurice.

They're identical twins that consider the Tahoe National Forest the home of our heart.

This forest is where they experience the deepest sense of belonging, peace, and emotional security.

They care about the well-being of our forest and want to do all they can to ensure the health and resilience.

They only started to learn about the projects being done in the Tahoe National Forest last March, 2025.

Since then, they have dedicated hundreds of unpaid hours to researching forest ecology, listening to the concerns and ideas of community members, and meeting with officials from the Tahoe National Forest, the CCP, and Circle.

They have founded the Community Initiative for Regenerative Forestry in the Tahoe National Forest.

They are inspiring people who love the forest to get involved in introducing the principles of regenerative forestry to the Tahoe National Forest and their partners.

I, uh, had the pleasure of meeting them at a meeting last week that was held up in, uh, where was it?

There was a bunch of people there, and we got to talk forestry, which was really interesting.

So what we're gonna do tonight is, uh, I wanna talk to them about regenerative forestry and what's really going on with that.
By the way, thank you so much, Tom, for making the time and space and inviting us t- for this amazing opportunity so that we can connect to the hearts and minds of the people who love this forest so beautifully.
Um, I'd like to start with, um, an understanding of what regenerative forestry is.
What is regenerative forestry? If you, uh, know what regenerative is, you are jumping up and down in your seat right now going, "Oh my God."
But if you don't know what regenerative is, I would like to outline what it is for forestry.
Regenerative forestry works in synchrony with nature to repair, rebuild, restore, and revitalize ecosystem function, starting with all life in the soil and expanding to all life above the soil.
Regenerative forestry is a holistic management approach that goes beyond sustainability to actively restore and enhance f- forest system eco- ecosystems, prioritizing soil health and f- and the forest detritus sphere, biodiversity, and resilience to climate change.
Regenerative forestry actively supports and protects and maintains every part of the forest ecosystem as an essential part to the whole and the vitality of the whole.
