Human beings are in a really, really tough spot in the year of our Lord, 2026, in the United States, where I am, as you can probably tell by my accent.
Like I said, we're in whatever number iteration of the Industrial Revolution we are now, thanks to both the internet and artificial intelligence.
Something that is gilded means that it's plated with gold on top, but that gold is only a really thin, thin layer.
And beneath it is a metal that is not precious or doesn't have much value at all.
It was known as the Gilded Age because the upper crust top one percenters were living extraordinarily lavish lifestyles.
They could, like I said earlier, they could buy whatever they wanted and they could buy a ton of them if they wanted to.
Meanwhile, underneath that shiny, shiny crust of a dazzling New York City and a dazzling life for the richest of the rich was a disastrous life if you were middle class or poor.

Something I think is really interesting is how the human brain, because of the way numbers are written out, can have a difficult time conceptualizing that one million isn't just a halfway point between a thousand and a billion, or that one billion is just a halfway point between a million and a trillion.
