When George Hanzal escaped Czechoslovakia and the Iron curtain he managed to end up living under The Chief in Squamish. In the 90's he brought back $3000 of equipment from the now Czech Republic after the fall of the Communist Regime. George used the gear to start Climb On Equipment, Squamish's well-loved local gear store.
I got to hear the story of how George escaped Czechoslovakia and also learn more about the notorious Czech Sandstone, where George landed to climb. George then told me about running Climb On and how things have changed in Squamish. This was one was super interesting. Thanks George!
