From Classics to Comebacks Episode 1: Ranking my 15 favourite horror films of the 2020s

And I think a great place to start is a genre that's been popular for decades, but...

I think is kind of coming back into things a little bit.

It's a genre that has been consistent.

But it's also got some real highs and real lows.

And I have some criticisms of this genre.

But I do think that 2026 is a good year for this genre.

Kind of making a little bit of a comeback.

And I am talking about the horror genre.

A very popular genre with a lot of people.

A lot of people don't like it as well, but I'm pretty keen on it.

I'm not a huge horror fan, but horror films I do think are cool.

And certainly the different ways you can make a horror film.

Psychological, the slasher.

There's so many different sub-genres of horror that it's just so interesting.

So I will be talking... about, first of all, Zack Kreger as the director.

And obviously he's got this new release, Resident Evil, the spin-off in the universe, and the reviews of it are absolutely crazy.

I'm probably going to go see it this week because it's one I'm certainly intrigued with.

As a non-gamer but a huge film fan, it's a video game adaptation, and I'm kind of just going to view it from a film point of view, whereas a lot of people have seen it from a... video game point of view, but I'm just so impressed with everything that Craig has done.

Obviously, First Barbarian, what an absolute film.

And then Weapons, following up with Weapons.

Jesus, yeah, I loved Weapons so much.

I thought it was one of the best films of last year.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I saw it in the cinema twice.

But yeah, I'm looking forward to Resident Evil because of the consistency of Zack Craig at the moment.
