Anna and SamHostSo I'm just going to read the blurb.
Ellen's beloved, beautiful, complicated family are gathered round her hospital bed as she prepares to slip away, and boy is she ready.
You'd think she could finally get some peace and quiet, but instead her children have chosen now, of all times, to have the never-ending discussion about her failings.
Every single tiny thing they think she's done wrong over the years, and one big thing too.
After all the sacrifices Ellen has made for every last and grateful one of them, they all still take their father's side.
If only they knew the whole story.
Full of big personalities, big mistakes, burning love and quiet heartbreak, Good Good Loving moves backwards in time through some of the most dramatic turning points in the life of Ellen and her family.
The story is a heart-rendering as it is joyous.
Oh, I absolutely agree.
I love this book so much.
I can't wait for you to read from it.

I'm going to do a short reading and the bit that I'm going to read, all you need to know is that Ellen, who's the main character, she's probably in her maybe early 70s here.

Her granddaughter, Leah, has turned up on her doorstep crying with her suitcases.

So where we begin the story, where we begin my reading, Leah is explaining to Ellen what's happened.

Ellen watched Leah sobbing and wiping her eyes as she explained what had happened that morning.

As if what had happened, that is, being told to go and visit your father once in a blue moon, was one of the most terrible things in the world that could befall a person.

As if she, at the age of 18, only just, had been promoted to judge and jury over the relationships of the big people around her.
