What happens when you stop building a business just for yourself and start thinking about what you can build for the people around you? In this episode, Chris and his partner sit down for a candid…
Kenton FriesenHostAnd so we're kind of exploring just the difference or the very upside down way that it feels like we're actually building Forge.
Because when I think about everything that I'm working on, And building towards, um, it definitely feels like a lot.
And so been thinking and praying about how I should actually be managing everything.
And the one thing that kind of keeps coming up is like, Forge is not for you.
This is not your baby.
It's actually like you're building this for somebody else.
Yeah.
And like, so it's a really interesting and very different way to build, at least for me, because I mean, usually if you're building a business, it's for the benefit or at least some of your own benefit.
like but really what we're building towards it wouldn't happen without you it wouldn't happen without kenton and it wouldn't happen probably without me um definitely not it was
yeah but but it was interesting like meeting with you and kenton uh earlier in the year and realizing like oh this actually is for them this is not this is not a chris thing and the more that i explore the whole concept of like um the the coaching and consulting aspect of things that started the whole pursuit i realize that i am not at all interested
in that
And even less interested in the social media or like writing or anything.
And so like it just highlights the opportunity for the people that are really interested who are like Joel and Kenton.

I think this in a context is exactly what business should be because we should be building business to bring value and to be able to put people into their unique abilities and see our people and our stakeholders flourish as individuals.

And every business we do, the only thing that's really selfish, like should be self-motivating in a business is it just supplying your income.
I totally agree.
But how often do you see businesses built from that perspective? When
Ridgeline
did you start it because you wanted to build a great business for your partners?

No, I did it to provide for my family and just lean into what I knew I was good at.

And that's been the biggest challenging or the biggest learning curve for me in all this is going from that understanding of, Like, I need resilience.
