Episode 610 – Tea, Tuxedos, and Trolls: Our First Cunard Cruise to Norway

kind of do a short little recap of cunard in general um okay because i didn't know anything about it until i had to do all the training to take this cruise so um so this was like one of our travel agent working cruises where we had classroom time and all of that when we were on our trip um so we were traveling with a group of 35 travel agents and our sales team from cunard which was two ladies and then several connection people from our host agency.

And so Cunard has four ships and they are all named after English queens.

So the one that most people I think have heard of is the Queen Mary, too, that does the transatlantic like the you know, the old Titanic route between New York and England.

And so they're very well known for that.

They have actually an ocean liner for that.

It's a different kind of ship than a cruise ship.

It has more ballasts.

It has like a different shaped hull and little differences like that.

So so anyway, that's kind of a purpose built, even though it does do other stuff besides the transatlantic.

And then the Victoria, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth are sister ships.

And then we were on the Queen Anne and the Queen Anne is the newest and the largest.

So she holds about 3000 passengers and the other one.

So all other ships are between two and 3000 passengers.

So kind of that

midship size there.

Yeah.

Yeah, so it still harkens back to those days of like, tradition and you know, the, if you, you might've seen ads for Cunard cause they sponsor the Tonys and, um, so that, you know, they have the bell hops with the white gloves and you know, that just that kind of, of classic style and they, they keep traditions alive, like their gala nights.

So, um, if you've ever been on a cruise that has a formal night, a lot of cruise lines now don't make you dress up on the formal night, the cunard does

okay it's not optional

it's well okay so let me take that back it's it's optional but you can't go to the dining room and you can't go to certain things if you are not dressed like men have to be wearing a jacket and a tie or you can wear your tuxedo if you have your tuxedo

with

you or you could um you know rent a jacket and tie for men um I don't think they do anything like that for women.

I mean, they did tell us it could be like cocktail dresses.

It doesn't have to be like formal glittery gowns, but, um, but men can't come into the diet.
