This week's episode is inspired by the number one question we get asked by new clients.

Am I on track to retire? Interestingly, we get this question from people who are 20 years away from retirement and those only six months out.

The service of financial planning sprung up due to the advent of retirement savings systems like our superannuation system here in Australia.

When everyone just got government pensions, very few people needed the services of a financial planner.

Even those with considerable wealth probably just relied on a combination of a stockbroker and an accountant.

The answer to this question is, of course, unique to your particular circumstances.

But I thought this week I might take you through how we go about answering this question.

What are the inputs required and the key things for you to consider? Of course, if you need help answering this question for yourself, jump on the guidance website and schedule a time for us to have a chat.

We will build a financial model that shows your expected long-term trajectory, and then using that as a baseline, we can compare different strategy options to work out a plan that's right for you.
