On this episode of Fin Too Deep, hosts Reason and Neal Driscoll discuss the latest news and rumors surrounding the Miami Dolphins as they prepare for their week 5 matchup at home against the…
All right? Neil, another week, another loss, but hey, I know moral victories don't mean jack bo diddly, 'cause almost only matters in horseshoes and hand grenades, but this team is getting closer and closer.
They put up another hard fight.
They lost in the end.
Uh, some boneheaded errors, some mental mistakes.
Um, how you feeling coming off of week four, and now heading into week five against Joe Burrow and the Bengals, who absolutely shredded us last year?
They haven't, no.
And like you said, I'm not a big guy into moral victories by any, you know, by any means.
But I also think I have good awareness on what this team was designed to do this year.
Y- you kinda shock the world just b- being as competitive as you were with Kansas City, right? Like, this is a rebuilding team, and we were every bit more so in the game than we were when we were the juggernaut that we thought we were in 2023, and we played the Chiefs in the playoffs, right? And then we go and play in Minnesota against a well-coached, undefeated Vikings team, and if we're being honest, our quarterback plays a little bit better, we're probably winning that football game.
I thought the effort was spectacular, and I think John Erik Sullivan, you know, he's gonna get a lot of praise because, you know, you and I and most of Dolphins community absolutely love this draft class for good reason.
But I, I think we're also starting to see that Jeff Hafley knows how to call a defense, and if this defense can perform against teams like Kansas City and Minnesota when we're in year one of a rebuild with $180 million in dead cap space, I think just kinda wait to see what happens when Hafley actually gets his horses that he's running the race with.
I, I'm really excited, 'cause, you know, I don't care about the scoreboard or the record.
If this team can play this level of football with what the roster they have right now, this experience that these young kids are getting, it's gonna pay dividends down the road, and we're gonna get free agency c- groups, more draft classes, right? Like-
Hmm
I think when you're, you know, you started the season kind of at go with an empty bank account.
You know, I think the Dolphins are way better than probably a lot of people anticipated nationally.
And, you know, there's another 0 and 4 team, the Tennessee Titans, and when you look at the Dolphins versus a team like that side by side, the Titans drafted their quarterback.
