What would food freedom sound like if you asked a six-year-old? Sometimes food freedom can feel complicated because you’ve spent years sorting foods into “good,” “bad,” “healthy,” “unhealthy,”…
No entities detected.
Starting today, you are gonna hear something a little bit different and a whole lot of fun on this podcast.
My six-year-old daughter came into my office a couple of months ago, saw my podcast mic sitting on my desk and said, "Hey, Mommy, can we record a show?" And without even waiting for an answer, she ran over, grabbed my mic, sat herself down on the little bed couch area in my office, moved my ring light over and said, "What are we gonna talk about?" [laughs] So I sat down, we plugged the mic in and started talking because she wanted to be able to see all the audio waves on my recording platform.
And so I asked her, I was like, "Okay, what do you wanna talk about?" And from this question sparked an entire miniseries.
So we sat and we talked.
There was no plan, no outline.
It ended up just being a sweet little conversation about food and nutrition from her perspective.
And after about three minutes she looked at me and said, "Mommy, can we let anybody hear this?" [laughs] So I asked my email list if you'd want to hear these conversations, and y'all responded more than any email I have ever sent in the last six years.
So because of that, this is the first of five mini episodes in our June summer series.
And today my sweet six-year-old is sharing the two kinds of foods that she thinks you should never eat.
And a little spoiler here, her answer might just make your food freedom heart smile.
So without further ado, let's dive in to this first episode in the series that I'm calling Tiny Talks.
[upbeat music] Hey there, woman of God.
Welcome to Faith Filled Food Freedom.
Are you tired of those nonstop food and body thoughts running the show? Maybe you're caught in the late night Google spiral of how to stop hating my body or stuck stressing over calories and the scale, wondering why it feels impossible to break free.
Girl, I see you.
I've been there too.
I'm Brittany, a dietician, Jesus lover, and recovering perfectionist who fell hard for diet culture's lies.
I thought looking a certain way and, quote-unquote, "eating right," would make me feel whole.
Then I discovered what scripture actually says about food and our bodies and where our worth comes from.
And let me tell you, it's better than any crash diet or fitspo trend out there.
Here on this podcast, we're mixing evidence-based nutrition science and mental health strategies with a whole lot of grace to help you ditch the food guilt, heal your body image, and finally step into the freedom you were made for.
Toss out the diet books and grab your Bible.
Your food freedom journey starts right here.
I cannot tell you how excited about this little miniseries that I did with my sweet baby girl.
In this first little mini episode, she is sharing from her sweet child perspective the two kinds of foods that you should never eat.
And if you're sitting here thinking, Brittany, you are a food freedom dietician, don't all foods fit? Well, just wait.
My sweet daughter has a precious perspective on this, and I think you should hear it.
So without further ado, let's dive on in.
