EP 120: The Cost of Staying

It's like when you think about a painting or like a artwork or whatever.

The shadows and the dark edges allow the colors to be more vibrant.

And that's kind of what I was saying in the beginning.

Like, we did put our kids in the worst performing school in APS.

And that was a lot of energy and a lot of effort.

And did they get the best education? I don't know, but they're amazing kids because of their experience.

And they have a perspective that they wouldn't have had if they didn't have that experience.

And so, I mean, I think that's the vibrancy of the color shining through is like, no, God used that.

But man, that was hard.

And again, this one, we did not sacrifice our kids.

We didn't sacrifice our kids' education.

All of our kids graduated, you know, 3.9 or above.

All of our kids were still waiting on the last one.

He'll be fine.

But, you know, we didn't sacrifice.

And there was an incredible cost to you, I mean, from volunteering, being at the school, to the point that we've even said, like, man, when the teachers came and asked us, Ms. Lewis, Ms. Lewis, you're here so much.

Can we give you a job? And that's kind of what led to Open Doors is the cost.

So we're not talking about the sacrifice.

We're talking about being present in the context and being intentional.
