Pigeon Lore: The rise of Rog Thrass, Ral & why 60 Card Matters

Let's just jump right into our punter's confessional.

Pigeon, I understand you brought a, uh, little bit of a tale for us today.

Yeah.

Um, it's a bittersweet one for me.

Uh, it was about, uh, it wasn't a year ago, it was a while ago, uh, not the most recent, uh, Land Go Open Invitational, but the, the one before that, so two ago.

Um, and it was a top 16 match.

It was on stream.

This event, I think I was first in Swiss, maybe second in Swiss, I don't remember.

But I was at a really good run, and on a very low mole.

I was on a mole to four, and I was sad about it, but the hand was turned to sudden substitution.

And, uh, a long time before it was played, uh, when I was still ranting about it in Rog Thras.

And I have a Rog- Rog re- in play, so I'm like, "I can steal whatever goes on." Dexter sitting next to me on, on Rog Si, I'm like, "Oh, I'm gonna steal a Necro.

I'm gonna steal a Naus.

It'll be awesome."

[laughs]

Um, the important part of the story is it didn't end up working out.

His turn two Naus got countered, so I couldn't steal it, but the game goes very, very long, very grindy.

It's all on stream.

It's a, it's a g- a good time.

But at the very end of the game, the last two players' turns before me is about an hour, hour plus of just like them believing they can get there and trying to push a win, and it doesn't end up getting there.

So I don't believe I'm ever getting a turn, because they look very deterministic.

Uh, so I'm kind of sitting there with, you know, two cards in my hand, which is basically no punt, no push at all.

Um, and then it ended up going to my turn, and I'm not prepared for this.

I'm a very big, uh, lines and, um, sequencing person, so I'm very hard on myself on that, in that regard.

And I, uh, neglected to find the line that I had off my top deck.
