If we talk about groceries, just in terms of the food that you have at home, you basically throw one in five bags away per capita.

So, I mean, that means basically you may as well throw one of those bags out at the supermarket and not take it home because you're not going to use it.

That's an annual cost of more than $36 billion, thousands of dollars of your household budget wasted.

So how do we turn this ship around? My guests today say it is possible, but it requires changing habits and intentional action from industry, from government and from you.

So making a bit more of an effort, just use up that old spinach and those old wilted bits and bobs.
