Do you keep taking more lessons, trying harder and working on your riding… but still find yourself struggling with the same problems? What if the problem isn't your riding? In this episode, I and…
Jocelin LillienauHostLornaHostThe first one that I came up with was that you worry about what other people think and that actually influences or affects the way that you function.
Well, it's an interesting one.
And I think that relates back to a conversation we were having just before.
And this is an interesting one.
And I would put this one into the course walking scenario that we were just talking about.
And how you can walk the course with various different people and people will give you all sorts of information about how they think that... you should write your course and when you say perhaps that you have a different opinion or your own opinion and then all of a sudden we're like oh my god what must they think that I've got this different plan and then you start to not trust yourself and then oh my god what are they going to think about me and all sorts of stuff goes on in your head rather than just being able to trust your plan and trust your own decisions then all of a sudden somebody else's judgment starts to get into the experience so Yeah, rather than what do I think I want to experience, what do they think?
Yeah, what do they think? And what will they think of me if I don't follow their advice, for example? Yeah, 100%.
And I say function here, but yeah, the decisions that you make is just as big of a thing.
The worry of what other people will think to affect your choices, decisions, actions, how you act during your ride.
Yeah, I think a big one is also for me, similar to this, is like when I ride, like in the actual ride...
I'll be you know something will go wrong and then my first thought will be like oh shit who saw that like who like what what will they think like the audience who saw that and what will they think of me and what does that mean for me like how does that position me as a writer will they think like oh she's not good enough to be here oh she shouldn't have written this course she clearly isn't ready for it yada yada yada and what happens then when I say like it affects how you function Rather than then setting myself and my horse up for the next fence, what am I doing? I'm spending a few seconds thinking about, oh shit, what will they think of me? And that then, you know, you're completely out of the ride.
I'm agreeing with you because it's less about asking yourself the question what have I just experienced the more about what will they think so exactly that it's taking you it's taking you out of the right because you can't then evaluate what has just happened so no I was actually nodded I disagree
