Sister Amy A. Wright: Behold, I am Jesus Christ

It is such a privilege to be here with you today.

As I look out at your beautiful, youthful faces, I am reminded of my time as a college student, and that's actually where I met my husband, my sweetheart James, who's here with me today.

We met in a political science class.

There were over 400 students in that class, and I love to sit on the front row because I always joke that that's where the A students sit, right? And I wanted to be an A student.

Well, I noticed at one point that the professor was always on a stage.

And James, instead of looking at the professor, he was looking this way at me.

And I thought, well, he's kind of weird.

Why is he staring at me? And then one day before class started, he asked me out on a date.

Well, what am I going to say, right? He said later that his strategy was that I would either say yes, which would be great, or I would say no and then have to sit there and feel uncomfortable for the rest of the class.

So I said yes, and on one of our first dates, he realized his grandparents were returning home from serving.

His grandpa was the temple president in the Manila Philippines temple.

And so the whole family was going to the airport.

This was before 9-11, where you could go to the gate and welcome everyone home.

Well, he didn't want to cancel our date, so he invited me to the airport.

And I thought, well, okay, this will be a fun experience.

So we get there.

There's 60 other family members there.

His mom came from a large family.

They're all there to greet Grandma and Grandpa.

They had been gone for nine years, three years as mission leaders, three years as an attorney for the church in the Philippines, and then three years as a temple president.

So grandma and grandpa get off the plane, and grandma just starts gathering all the littles and hugging and kissing on them.

James is the only one who showed up with a date.

He's the second oldest grandchild.

And then grandpa, he's like 6'3".

He gets off the plane, walks past everyone, and James and I are standing in the back, directly up to me, wraps his arms around me, kisses me on the cheek, and then turns to James and asks, so when are you getting married? I thought he was going to die.

Best advice I ever took, a year later, he was our sealer in the Salt Lake Temple.

And a year after that, we gave birth to his first great grandchild, who we named after him.

So my invitation to you, if there's anyone on this campus that you're interested in getting to know a little bit better, two things.

Ask them out at the first of class.

And second, get your grandparents involved.
