First thing we want to talk about is why does it matter, right? Well, if I am constantly acting or my body is acting like, this is a trauma response, and it's really just things that feel stressful, what happens is a lot of times we feel a lot of shame about that.
And so we want to make sure that when we are talking about these things, if you feel like you are over responding to a situation, we never wanna feel shame about that.
When we think about where that comes from, a lot of times when we are talking about this, and we'll talk about this later in the podcast, We are talking about sometimes what we feel in the present is actually a trauma response.
So an overreaction is actually coming from a place of wounding rather than you just not having a grip on life.
It's important because what we need to know is what's the right support in the moment, okay? So the label is important because we need to know how best to support ourselves when we decide, okay, this is a stress response or am I actually having a trauma response right now, okay? When we name it right, we can actually have the right tool.
