I grew up with a Sunday school teacher that told me that God was in heaven preparing a home for me.

Now I thought to myself when I was seven years old or eight years old, well, if he's taking orders, I'm gonna make sure that I get pink curtains, that my mansion was gonna be pretty good looking.

So I told God exactly what the lowdown was and I want that mansion to be pretty cool.

that there's an investment that we need to make into the future of what we live into.

And I don't want you to ever think that I guess you get married or you come into a relationship that two people have lived maybe separate lives with separate backgrounds, with separate upbringings, and suddenly come in and you parent together and like, hey, bang, we both parent with the same parenting style.

Two people are different and they come together and it takes effort and time and communication to get this thing going.

Home was never meant to be a place that we just did the washing, that we just packed school lunches.

That we just got chores done and we, you know, like we organised ourselves.

Who's ever sat in the car or done a lap around the, a lap around the neighbourhood? Just going, oh no, I can't do it today.

You know when we say vows and we go for better than worse, for richer the poorer, for teenagers or toddlers? We do a lap around or sit in the driveway for just a minute and we breathe in, we go and we're bracing ourselves to go in.

And let me tell you, there's seasons in family life where that's actually completely normal.

And I think whoever wrote those marriage vows, boys down the front row, if one day you find this chicky babe that you really like, all right, and you find yourself going, yeah, she's the one, some old person once thought it was a good idea that you stood at the altar and said these words, for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse, in good times and in bad, because that old person, you know what they knew? That life isn't always easy.

and that real love is not all about one season of your life being good, it's about you, I've chosen, I won't choose you, that you, here's my ride or die man over here, this is my husband, right? That you, I choose you for the ups and the downs for it all.
