High School Football Recap and Games Previews Week 8 2026

And we're talking Friday night lights, uh, Friday night football tonight.

Yes.

And, uh, Travis, uh, you get to call the, uh, Portal Panthers game tonight.

Yes.

It's gonna be a, uh, change of pace here.

Statesboro High is on a bye week this week after a real tough game against, uh, ARC, The Academy of Richmond County, last Friday.

Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.

That was a tough one, man.

It was a, uh, 41 to 14 loss.

And, uh, you know, I'll just come right out and say it.

Statesboro was playing multiple teams last Friday.

There were just some very blaring examples of the officials not calling things that they should have.

Yeah.

I, I listened to, uh, to the coverage and-

Yeah

... and you and Destiny-

But that's not me playing favorites

... were both, no, no, because-

That's genuinely, Destiny and I were like, "How the hell is the official not calling..." Like, that's, it's, it was the sort of behavior where I was genuinely worried about kids getting actually hurt.

Yeah.

Because if you don't call- After play contact like that.

A prime example, Statesboro had a pass attempt where, uh, ARC had come down on top of us and they had bobbled it, so no one was able to confirm it, right? And ARC's receiver was very upset that he didn't do that, so he got up after the play, took his stance, and just tackled our receiver from behind in front of an official, who didn't do a single thing about it.

But how dare Coach Dobson be on the field for 10 seconds.

That's gonna be a penalty flag.

Yeah.
