So, first of all, the big news, obviously, was Mikael Grandland being named the 10th captain in Ducks history this morning.

Mikael... is not the choice that many had on their bingo card in terms of captaincy candidates.

We thought for sure, you know, offer sheet aside, Leo Carlson is the future of this franchise.

Jackson Lacombe, the other stoic choice, if you will, got his contract done last fall.

pretty likely candidate as well cutter gote hasn't worn a letter in his time with the ducks both carlson and lacombe had letters last season so that put them maybe higher on the the odds charts and cutter gote though a fiery leader in his way uh and when we asked him about the cap or when i asked him about the captaincy the other uh last week He had mentioned that he wanted to be included in the leadership core.

You could tell he held back an answer where he really wanted to say more, but he just said, yes, yes, I do want to do that.

Troy Terry probably should have been the captain two years ago when they first gave out the C. He's obviously not playing to start the season.

And despite thinking about all the veterans, Mikhail Granlin is the one that slipped under my radar.

Even this morning, we were tipped off that there was going to be a captaincy announcement.

Ducks PR came over to just check in on us and asked us, who do you think it is? And we gave our thoughts and none of us said Mikhail Granlin and they didn't tip their hand either.

When Joel Quenville makes the announcement at practice today, I was a little shocked at first and just sort of like, why? Not that McHale is not a deserving candidate.

He is among the leadership group, despite also not having an A on his sweater last season as well.
