After years of using alcohol and other substances to help quiet anxiety and numb emotional pain, Brian woke up one day and decided he wanted to transform physically, which lead to three years of sobriety. But without doing the emotional work behind his drinking, his white-knuckling sobriety ultimately led him back to alcohol. A terrifying freeway accident forced him to face the negative impacts alcohol was having on his life, and he knew he had to change. Brian shares what happened when he finally asked for help, from a 45-day outpatient program and a sponsor who he met with every morning, to the structure, discipline, and delayed gratification he found through fitness and bodybuilding. He also opens up about creating a life rooted in purpose, gratitude, and service.
