**Welcome back to Dr Julie's Coffee Chats!** After a six-month break following a third major surgery, I'm so excited to finally be back behind the microphone. In this episode, I'm sharing where I've…
Where to even start over the last six months? The first place, of course, would be in my decision to actually press pause.
So, some of you will know little snippets of what has happened over this time, and particularly what happened at the end of January, but I didn't go into too much detail.
In fact, I pretty much left you on a cliffhanger my last episode, and I kept everything completely private off social media, and that was my choice, it was my prerogative.
I'm really, really glad that I did, because being a public figure in this space for over 13 years now, privacy is very, very, very rare, and I gave that to myself.
I gave that to myself, I gave that to my boys, and I gave that to the journey and the healing that would've been required.
So in fact, that in itself was a decision that I made for me, and I'm really glad that I did.
It's, it's a hard balance as someone who works and lives and breathes in the wellness space and wants to be as transparent as possible, and I was dealing with what is a lifelong, ongoing health condition of mine.
And I did share little snippets when I was ready, but the ultimate decision was, was for me.
And as I said, I'm really glad that I did because it gave me the time, the space.
I needed it.
[laughs] My brain needed it, and ultimately so did the journey that I went, I went down.
And so part of that decision was indeed to also drop some balls and some significant work pieces.
Look, when you're a business owner, you don't have anyone telling you what to do, which, like, it's great and it's wonderful.
[laughs] By all means.
It's one of the reasons I am a business owner.
But what that also means is that some of these decisions, they're made 100% by you.
And I did need to make a decision on how much I was going to do, knowing that also this business is my source of income.
It is 100% how I support four of us, myself included.
Uh, five if you count little Miss Charlie.
And so it wasn't a case of I'm going to completely take time off, it was how do I, how do I structure the business, the work that I do in a way that's sustainable, in a way that still keeps generating income, that also makes me feel good? And I tell you what, there's no perfect answer, and I struggled and I battled with it the entire time.
So I'm not here saying that I am perfect and I have all the answers.
It was one of the biggest lessons that I, that I had to learn.
And one of those balls that needed t- to drop was the podcast.
Or it didn't need to drop.
I chose to drop it because I couldn't put the time, the love, the energy, and the creative space into it, and it was also adding a lot of pressure to me.
