[upbeat music] Hello, and welcome to Doing Disasters Differently, the podcast with Renee Hanvin, which is all about inspiring you to start thinking and doing disasters a little bit differently too.

[upbeat music] Hello, and welcome to today's episode of Doing Disasters Differently.

I'm here with Professor Daniel Aldrich, who is a full professor at Northeastern University.

And I met Professor Aldrich, like seven, eight years ago when he presented in Australia, and I heard what he was presenting on and I was like, "That is totally aligned to what we've been trying to do." So I stalked him through LinkedIn and asked him to be a volunteer advisor on our Re- Resilient Ready advisory group, which he very kindly said yes, and for the past five to six years we've been working on projects to build social capital and social infrastructure measurement in Australia.

So this podcast is titled "We Did It," and I'm really excited to be having this conversation with you all as listeners today and, um, with Professor Aldrich around what we've actually achieved, 'cause it's pretty cool, isn't it, Daniel?

We built a national framework to measure social capital and social infrastructure across Australia.
